Forensic laboratories typically use PopStats (supplied by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as part of CODIS), excel or other software to perform the statistical DNA estimates. These software packages contain the necessary formulas to compute random match probabilities or likelihood ratios from published allele frequency data.
